Nokia 1200, 1208, 1650 Plugin Problem

Mobile Nokia 1200, Nokia 1208, and the Nokia 1650 is a phone that has a plugin that soldered to the PCB board. Damage that often occurs in the Nokia plugin is broken jack for charging. This may be because of its small size.
When this happens, we might be a little difficult, both in the process of opening the plugin, as well as the installation process. The difficulty occurs because the position of the plugin with the keypad light is very close, so if not careful, the heating process, the keypad lights will burn.
In addition to the charging problem, the problem can also arise in the USB port. The problem that often occurs is disconnected lines. When this happens, you can make jumpers from the point of the plugin to the component. Here is a picture guide to make the technique.

Analysis of Short Flows in Nokia BB5 (part 2)

TAHVO Elimination
Disconnect the L2302, with these components removed, then the Vcore will be lost. Then check again, if the condition still the same? If so, it means there is no problem with Vcore for the RAP. When the heat was back to normal, then there are certain problems in RAPGSM (microprocessor).
Pull the L2301 and L2306, with these components removed, the input TAHVO from Vbatt will be lost. This led to a series of charging does not work. Check back, if the condition still the same? If so, it means there is no problem at TAHVO. If the heat back to normal, then it means there is a problem in TAHVO.
PA (Power Amplyfier) elimination
Pull Z7520, by depriving these components, Vbatt Voltage to the PA will be lost. Check back, if the current consumption to be normal, then there is a problem in PA.
RF IC (AHNE) elimination
Pull the L7502, with these components removed, the Vbatt voltage to the RF will be lost. If the current consumption to be normal, then there is a problem in the RF. If the flow remains high, then the problem is not found in RF. Replace the L7502.
Bluetooth IC elimination
Pull the L6077, with these components removed, the Vbatt voltage to the bluetooth IC will be lost. If the current consumption to be normal, then there is a problem in the bluetooth IC.
Camera IC and Regulator elimination
Pull L3303, if the flow becomes normal, then there is a problem in the camera or camera ICs. If the flow is still high, pull the L3304, if the flow becomes normal, then there is a problem in the camera regulator (N3300).
For the DSP on RAPGSM that obtain VIO voltage, the way to eliminate by pull RAPGSM. Then look the current reaction on Power Supply or feel if the RETU still hot? If it is back to normal, it means there is a problem in RAPGSM. If the RETU still hot, or power supply current is still high, it means the problem is not found in RAPGSM.
There are two possible short on RAPGSM, from foots of the RAPGSM or from RAPGSM module itself. If the short occurs on its feets, reball the IC. But if after reball still same, change the RAPGSM.
There are three short categories on mobile phones, namely :
  1. Short when the battery installed
  2. Short after pressing on/off switch
  3. Short when make a call
To overcome the condition number one, check and eliminate the components that obtain the voltage directly from Vbatt like PA, RETU, TAHVO, RF, etc.
To overcome the condition number two is more difficult. Check and eliminate the components that obtain the voltage from regulator like camera regulator, led regulator, etc.
The condition number three, the damage generally occurs in PA, because PA work when make a call or receiving a call.

Analysis of Short Flows in Nokia BB5

This analysis is applied to Nokia BB5 mobile phones that use RF (AHNE), using the processor RAPGSM v1.1, not RAP3G.
RAPGSM v1.1 is included in the CMOS processor (MOSFET) which is a series combination of Field Effect Transistor (FET), Vdd (drain) as a positive voltage, Vss (source) as a negative.
RAPGSM need two types of voltage, namely :
  1. Microprocessor Voltage, Vcore = 1,4 V
  2. Data Signal Processor Voltage, VIO = 1,8 V
In RAPGSM have a 19 foot VddCore obtain positive voltage 1,4 V (drain) of the TAHVO, and 19 feet VssCore negative voltage (source) to ground, and 11 feet that obtain VddIO voltage 1,8 V.
Approximately 50 feet from the input voltage (Vdd/Vss) for the RAP, the common short-circuit on its feet. Therefore, most likely caused by this RAPGSM. However, if we want to do a more precise measurement, it is very difficult if only done by injecting a voltage or a heat feeling.
Why? because in RAPGSM IC's module, on input Vdd/Vss, there is a protection diode works as switching when short. So, when RAP short, not hot. However, the heat occurs at a regulator, which is RETU or TAHVO.
Therefore, we could either make a conclusion. So, if RETU heat, it doesn't mean that experienced short RETU.
Therefore, the proper way to do an analysis is to perform elimination. Elimination is to decide the voltage on one of the suspected components, and then compare it back to the power supply.

Nokia 2100 and Nokia 3610 Contact Service Problem

Writing this time will discuss about the problems that occurs in Nokia 2100 and Nokia 3610. This time, the problem will be discussed is the damage to contact the service.
The background of this issue raised in the blog is because a lot of questions coming to us to overcome these problems. Among the questions coming to us, most damage occurs when they will replace the PPM files, but after the PPM files replacement process is complete, a new problem comes, the contact service.
This is a lot happening on the mobile phone Nokia 2100 and Nokia 3610. The cause of this damage is the original IMEI to the IMEI plain out of sync.
To overcome this damage, we can use the flasher tool commonly used by mobile technicians, the UFS Tornado. The first step, after you connect the phone with UFS Tornado, please see the information about the mobile phone by clicking the info menu on UFS Tornado interface.
Look carefully at the Cobba, what number is written? if the writing is -31, meaning the problem is not found in IC Cobba, but if the writing is -700, meaning Cobba IC is damaged. All right, we will discuss today are issues that are not on the Cobba IC.
Nokia 2100
Erase flash :
  • Start 00200000 end 003FFFFF and
  • Start 003F0000 end 003FFFFF
Nokia 3610
Erase flash :
  • Start 00200000 end 005FFFFF and
  • Start 005E0000 end 005FFFFF
Furthermore, you do flashing process as usual in the MCU and PPM. When finished, rebuild IMEI, adjust the IMEI number with the original, then do unlock. Good luck.

Damage around the Nokia E 70 (part 2)

We continue the discussion of the damage that often occurs on the Nokia E70.

T7502 (Tx Coupler)
This component is often called the balance unbalance. This component serves to create a balance signal to unbalance. This component works on 1800 Mhz frequency. If components are damaged, will cause the RF Tx signal at a frequency of 1800 Mhz impaired. This situation will create a mobile phone only works on 900 MHz frequencies, but when transferred to the frequency 1800 MHz, mobile problematic. This resulted in signal to arise drowned.

Z7504 (Tx Filter 900 MHz)
This component serves to filter the RF Tx signal to be emitted by the Power Amplifier. This component also change the RF signal to be balance unbalance. If this component is damaged, the symptoms that arise as damage to the T7502, but the phone problem at 900 MHz.

N2200 IC Power RETU
These components not only function as a supplier of electricity, but these components also regulate the function of audio, data SIM Card, vibrators, and much more. If this component is damaged, the symptoms that often arises is the mobile phone becomes dead, the audio problem, vibrators, and others. Please note that almost all IC contained in this mobile phone to take electricity from retu.

Damage around the Nokia E 70 (part 1)

In this section, Phone Repairing will discuss about the damage that often occurs in the Nokia E 70 mobile phone. The first part will be discussed is the Signal. The main components of this section is Z7503 (antenna switch), N7502, X7501 (antenna connector), X7502 (antenna connector), T7502 (Tx coupler), Z7504 (Tx filter 900 Mhz), N2200 (IC Power retu), B2200 (crystal osc 32 Khz).

Z7503 (Antenna Switch)
Antenna Switch is a component that can be easily damaged, very vulnerable if you have a strong impact. This component serves as a switch for the RX signal to the TX signal so that only one antenna is required to accommodate the needs of both the RX series (radio receiver) and TX (radio transmitter). If problematic, can cause no signal receiver or transmitter. In addition, can also cause the RX signal becomes weak, it is difficult to make calls.

N7502
Power Amplifier or sometimes called final amplifier is a component that serves to strengthen the signal is modulated TxRF, so it has enough power to reach the nearest base stations.
These components are relatively often damaged. In the event of damage, mobile transmitter system would be disrupted. Damage to these components will result in mobile phones can not make calls, not to call, no signal, wasteful batteries and others.

X7501 (Antenna Connector)
This connector is often problematic when the mobile phone with a hard knock. This component serves to connect the antenna to the PCB. If the connector is dirty, or if the antenna is not connected to this connector, will result in a weak signal, it is difficult to call and difficult to accept the call.
In the process of improvement, to ensure that the antenna is connected properly to the connector, we can use the 8 cm long wire that directly soldered to the antenna connector. If the signal improves, it is certain that there is damage in this section.

Nokia 3650 Software Problems

Nokia 3650, Nokia 3660, Nokia 6600 and Nokia 7650 is the type of first-generation Nokia mobile phones that use Symbian operating system. Symbian operating system is very vulnerable to viruses, therefore, on mobile phones using Symbian operating system common to the software problems caused by viral interference.
Cases that we discuss this is the case of damage to the software the Nokia 3650. Symptoms that occur are mobile phones can not playing music. When the music player application is activated, the application can open but can not play music.
To overcome this, you must format the memory card and mobile phone. As for how to format the phone can be done in two ways, first you can use a box like UFS Tornado Flasher, then do the format on the user area. Nokia 6610 Power Switch Problem

Phone Repairing this time again will share experiences in repairing the damage Power Switch on the Nokia 6610 mobile phone.
Symptoms of damage to the Nokia 6610 mobile phone this time are: Mobile to die, but when connected to the transformer charger, can charge mobile phone battery.
This indicates that the mobile machine is still working, but the phone can not be turned on because of any damage or problems on the power switch. The first step I did was make a visual inspection. This is done to ensure that no chip is missing either due to collision and so on. Having ascertained that no chip is lost or separated, then the next analysis was to examine whether the PCB track is broken or not. In this examination step, I do not find a damaged PCB track, but instead there is the resistance value of resistor which does not match that should be. R306 chip is as shown in the following figure:

To repair this damage, we can replace the resistor with the same value as shown in the diagram scheme. However, if we do not have a resistor, we can handle it by doing jumpers from switch on / off straight to the point of resistors that is connected to UEM IC. The picture as shown below:

Nokia N73 Handsfree Problem

Some time ago, there was a problem that very rarely happens. Actually, if this can be called stupid. Why do I say stupid? Here's the story:
Mobile that I use the Nokia N73. When I came home from a relative's house, then I put the phone on the table. Without my knowledge, my brother took my Nokia N73. He intended to listen to music through a hands-free but without him knowing it, he took the hands-free for Sony Ericsson W395 mobile phones.
When handsfree Sony Ericsson W395 is we put on the Nokia N73, is entered. But because the system does not detect the same, finally on my phone there is always a warning enhancement not supported.
Because I do not know the chronology of the beginning, I thought it was caused by a virus that damage the operating system. I think that because I often browse and download using the phone.
When I try to restore the phone settings to factory settings, it turns out that the warning is still there. Finally, after my in-depth analysis, I have concluded that to eliminate these warnings, we must install a suitable handsfree. Finally, after I install a suitable handsfree, especially the original, mobile phones back to normal.

Nokia 2100 Signal Drop

After a long time not writing, this time I want to share about how to improve the signal problem on the Nokia 2100 mobile phone.
I found the problem this time is as follows:
When I first turned on, cell phone signal can be captured but a few seconds later the signal was lost immediately. I tried to find signal manually from setting menu, the result can detect any mobile cellular networks there. I thus conclude that the RF processor is not a problem.
Next I checked the Power Amplyfier. I pull the IC Power Amplyfier then I replace it with new. The result was still missing signal abruptly.
After I did some earlier, I finally have the conclusion that the damage occurred on the passive components in the vicinity of IC Power Amplyfier. After I check one by one, finally I found a damaged passive components, namely the capacitor C 760.
Location of these components can be seen in the picture below. After I replace these components, mobile phone back to normal.

Nokia 8310 Mic Problem

The information we give this time is the information about the Nokia 8310. On the Nokia 8310 mobile phone is often a problem occurs in Microphone.
Problems with microphone can be caused by a broken line or a broken microphone. However, these days we have received 3 pieces Nokia 8310 mobile phone. Complaint is when to call, our voice was not heard by the other person.
At first we thought that the microphone is broken, but after we checked, still a good microphone. The next step we check the microphone channels, the result no broken lines.
It turned out after our study, the damage caused by installing the bolts on the mobile cracked bone, so that when we tighten the bolts, the PCB board is not attached properly due to loose bolts. This causes the connection between the microphone with the PCB board to be not perfect.
To fix this, replace bone or you can provide the lead on the microphone on the PCB. This is a simple step but provides a real solution.

Contact Service Nokia 5510

Some time ago, we found a case of Contact Service on the Nokia 5510 mobile phone. Usually at this mobile group, contact service damage can be detected from the difference in the IMEI number is visible at the interface DCTx Tools. To fix it we can do to rebuild IMEI reappropriate the IMEI number.
However, after we check the IMEI number was not a problem (on the screen shows the same IMEI number). Next we tried to write back pm and the results remained the same.
After going through several steps of analysis, we finally conclude that the damage to the IC Ccont. Next we replace IC Ccont and mobile phone were recovered. Hopefully this can be an additional knowledge for us in cell phone repair.

Nokia 3100 Signal Problems Repair

The signal is very important for a wireless communication device because without a good signal then the wireless communications will be hampered. In the cell phone, receiving signals from operators regulated by an IC called RF Processor.
Cases we adopted in this section is the problem of signal reception on the Nokia 3100 mobile phone. The problem is as follows: mobile phones can receive the signal but the signals up and down and sometimes disappear.
This problem comes from IC RF Processor. However, after we have done tests, RF Processor IC is not damaged. The problem is the connection between the IC RF Processor with PCB board is not perfect (lead fracture) so the reception signal becomes unstable.
To overcome this problem, we only heated Processor RF ICs using solder fumes (blower), it aims to glue the back of tin that have cracked it. After we warm up, receiving the Nokia 3100 mobile phone signal back to normal.
Basically, a system that works on a mobile phone is the same. Therefore, if we find the same case as mentioned above, we can do the same handling steps.

Repairing Nokia 3120 Restart

Cases that we host this time is the damage that occurs in the Nokia 3120. The damage is when we are pressing one button keypad, mobile phone screen becomes blank and beeps sound. The next phone restart itself.
At first we thought that the damage caused by software problems, but once we flash was the result remains the same. When we did further analysis, we finally conclude that damage to the CPU.
After we did the replacement of the CPU, it returned to normal mobile phone. Such information from us for now, may be useful.

How to Repair Phone Restricted Problem

Some time ago we received a question about how to overcome the damage Phone Restricted. Previously we have never found this kind of damage, but some time ago we discovered the damage to the phone Phone Restricted brands Nokia 3100 model.
In the cases we found, we tried to do the examination by using UFS Tornado. Mobile can be connected to either, but when viewed on the info, mobile IMEI number is not detected and only in the form of a question mark.
We tried to write UEM, but the phone still error. In theory, the IMEI number stored in the EEPROM and on mobile phones Nokia DCT-4, EEPROM contained in UEM IC. Therefore, to repair the damage we change UEM IC and recharge IMEI number. Finally phone back to normal functioning. Hopefully useful.

Battery Problems

In normal circumstances and use, cell phone battery average is used to hold two and even three days. However, if in normal use and battery condition certainly good, but cell phone battery runs out fast, it means that there is a problem in the transmitter.
Why in the transmitter? Because this section (IC PA) took power from the battery directly and not through the IC Power Supply first, since this section requires a great power. Basically, when the battery is attached to cell phones, although cell phone was not turned on, he actually has an active but still "asleep" and to wake it is by pressing the on / off.
In the case above, wasteful battery condition can be caused by IC PA (Power Amplifier) that is damaged. IC continuously flows from the battery sucking causing rapid cell phone battery run out. To analyze it, we can use the help of power supply.
Connect your cell phone with the power supply At the cellular phone is off, see the needle on the power supply amperage, usually when the cellular phone wasteful damaged battery, the needle will show the number ampere 100 mili amperes. When the analysis was right on the second step, then the next step is the release IC Power Amplifier (PA), then do check back in a second step, if the amperage needle silent, then certainly there are problems in the PA IC. Switch IC with a new PA, and do a re-test the above, if the needle still amperes, means your cell phone is back to normal.
In some cases, writers have tried to make improvements without a change in the IC with a new PA, but only release the old PA IC, IC PA then washed with thinners and cleaning the PCB board and IC PA is put back, and the results returned to normal mobile phone. Good luck!
